Cost and free shipping
- Orders over $199 ship free to the contiguous United States.
- Below that, a flat ground rate is calculated at checkout before you pay. You always see the delivery cost before committing.
- Hazardous materials handling for primers and powder, where it applies, is a separate line at checkout rather than hidden in the item price.
Processing and delivery times
Orders are picked and despatched within one to two business days. Orders placed at a weekend or on a public holiday are processed the next business day.
Ground transit across the continental United States typically runs two to six business days after despatch, depending on distance. Transit time belongs to the carrier, and it stretches in bad weather and around holidays.

Ammunition, primers and powder
Ground carriage only
Ammunition is a hazardous material for carriage. It travels by ground carrier and cannot go by air or through the Postal Service. There is no expedited or overnight option for ammunition, at any price.
Adult signature required
Every ammunition delivery requires an adult signature. The carrier checks identification and will not leave the parcel unattended, with a neighbour or in a porch. If nobody is there the carrier re-attempts, then holds it for collection.
Primers and powder
Primers and smokeless powder carry their own handling requirements and a hazardous materials fee, and cannot be packed in the same carton as loaded ammunition. An order mixing them may arrive as more than one parcel on different days.
We cannot ship ammunition everywhere. Several states, the District of Columbia and some cities restrict direct delivery. Check whether we ship to you →
Firearms
Firearms and serialised receivers are not delivered to your home. They ship from our licensed premises to a licensed dealer in your state, who completes Form 4473 and the background check before releasing the firearm to you. We need a copy of that dealer’s licence before the firearm moves.
Damaged, late or missing parcels
Inspect the carton before you sign. If it arrives crushed, open or visibly short, note it with the driver and photograph it before opening. That record is what lets us claim against the carrier.
Email support@hilltoparmoryllc.com with your order number and the photographs within five business days of delivery and we will put it right. Claims raised later are harder to win with the carrier.
If tracking has not moved for five business days, tell us and we will open a trace. Do not wait for it to resolve itself.
Can ammunition be shipped through the mail?
Not for ordinary retail orders. Ammunition is non-mailable matter under Postal Service rules except between narrowly defined authorised parties, so it ships by ground carrier instead.
Why can I not pay for next-day delivery on ammunition?
Because ammunition cannot legally travel by air, and expedited services move parcels by air. No amount of money buys a faster ammunition delivery.
Will my order arrive in one parcel?
Not always. Ammunition, primers and powder cannot share a carton, and heavy orders are split across boxes that often arrive on different days.
Do I have to be home to sign?
Somebody over 21 does. It need not be you, but it cannot be left unattended.
Do you ship internationally?
No. United States addresses only. Exporting ammunition or firearms is separately regulated and we do not undertake it.
