Charlotte, NC
North Carolina does not regulate ammunition shipped to a residence, and the pistol purchase permit is gone. Firearms still transfer through a local dealer.
Short answer Ammunition ships direct to a Charlotte address: North Carolina requires no permit, licence, registration, quantity cap or state background check to buy it. A firearm ships to a North Carolina FFL for Form 4473 and a NICS check.
Ammunition to Charlotte
North Carolina does not regulate ammunition sold and shipped to a residence: no permit, no licence, no registration, no quantity cap, no face-to-face requirement and no state background check.
The state has exactly one ammunition rule that touches a sale — G.S. 14-315(a) makes transferring any pistol cartridge to a minor a Class 1 misdemeanour — and the federal age rule we already apply to every order is the stricter of the two. Local governments cannot add to this: G.S. 14-409.40(b) preempts local regulation of firearms ammunition, so no Charlotte ordinance changes what we may send you.
Firearms to Charlotte
A firearm ships to a North Carolina FFL, where you complete ATF Form 4473 and the dealer runs a NICS check. For the buyer there is no state waiting period, no purchase permit and no registry — North Carolina’s pistol purchase permit was repealed with effect from 29 March 2023, so a handgun no longer needs a sheriff’s permit before the transfer.
What we will not send to Charlotte
North Carolina imposes no magazine capacity limit and no state ban on a class of semi-automatic rifle, so state law does not bar any item in our catalogue from Charlotte.

About this page
The North Carolina position above was built from the state’s own published code and checked claim by claim against those primary sources on 23 September 2026. It describes how this business ships and is not legal advice. Firearms and ammunition law changes and parts of it are in active litigation, so confirming the law where you live is yours to do before you order; applying the rules we can see is ours. Where we cannot lawfully fill an order we cancel and refund it rather than ship it. A firearm is shipped licensee to licensee and never to a private address, and the receiving dealer’s transfer fee is theirs rather than ours. If a statement here is out of date, tell us and it will be corrected or removed.
