Atlanta, GA
Georgia adds nothing to federal law for a mail-order purchase. Ammunition ships to your door; a firearm goes to a Georgia dealer.
Short answer Ammunition ships direct to an Atlanta address: no Georgia statute regulates the sale, delivery or shipment of ammunition to a residence, so only the federal age minimums apply. A firearm ships to a Georgia FFL for the ordinary Form 4473 and NICS check.
Ammunition to Atlanta
Georgia does not regulate ammunition sold and shipped to a residence. There is no state permit, no registration, no record-keeping duty on the seller, no state age rule and no state background check, so the only limits are the federal ones we apply to every order: 18 for rifle and shotgun ammunition, 21 for handgun ammunition.
That absence was established rather than assumed — a search of the whole Official Code of Georgia Annotated returns nine mentions of ammunition, none of which restricts a sale to a consumer, and the explosives licensing statute (O.C.G.A. 25-2-17) expressly excludes small arms ammunition.
Firearms to Atlanta
A firearm ordered here ships to a Georgia FFL of your choosing, where you complete ATF Form 4473 and the dealer runs the federal background check. Georgia adds no waiting period, no permit-to-purchase and no registry, and in 2014 it repealed its own state dealer-licensing chapter (HB 60), so there is no separate Georgia licence for either of us to hold.
What we will not send to Atlanta
Georgia has no magazine capacity limit and no “assault weapon” ban, so nothing in our catalogue is barred from the state on those grounds.
One caveat we would rather state than hide: the Georgia preemption statute (O.C.G.A. 16-11-173) bars local governments from regulating firearms and firearm components, but its text does not name ammunition. The City of Atlanta has no ammunition ordinance, and we verify the destination before an order ships rather than relying on a statewide assumption.

About this page
The Georgia position above was built from the state’s own published code and checked claim by claim against those primary sources on 23 September 2026. It describes how this business ships and is not legal advice. Firearms and ammunition law changes and parts of it are in active litigation, so confirming the law where you live is yours to do before you order; applying the rules we can see is ours. Where we cannot lawfully fill an order we cancel and refund it rather than ship it. A firearm is shipped licensee to licensee and never to a private address, and the receiving dealer’s transfer fee is theirs rather than ours. If a statement here is out of date, tell us and it will be corrected or removed.
